CARL FRIEDRICH GAUSS :The Prince of Mathematicians

CARL FRIEDRICH GAUSS

                          The Prince of Mathematicians
                                                               (1777-1855)

                 INTRODUCTION

Carl Friedrich Gauss was a German mathematician and physicist.
Gauss had made significant contributions in many fields of mathematics as well as science.
He was very focused on his work and used to work very hard and his this attitude toward his work lead to the success he had achieved today.
He is referred as ‘PRINCE OF MATHEMATICIANS’ and is considered as one of the three greatest mathematicians of all time along with Archimedes and Newton.
Gauss had an exceptional influence in many fields of mathematics and science.
He is also ranked among history’s most influential mathematician.
He is well known among the youth for his contribution in the field of algebra, geometry and other…

PERSONAL LIFE

He was born in Brunswick (Now in Germany).
He had a poor and hard working- class of parents. He was a christen by birth. His mother was illiterate and never recorded the date of his birth, she just remembered the day of his birth was a Wednesday and was 39 days before Easter and then Gauss himself solved the mystery of his own date of birth by calculating the date according to the hints given by his mother.
Gauss was a Child Prodigy as he was extra-ordinary intelligent since young age. There are many stories about his early age intelligence.
Such as: When he was only 3 years old he corrected an error made by his father which was surprising for his all family as he was too young to solve those kinds of problem.
There is another say that when he was in school at the age of 7 he confidentially solved an Arithmetic series problem (i.e. adding all  the integer from 1 to 100) extremely faster than any other then the class of 100 students…
There are many more stories…
After he grew up and studied in many universities.       He married Johanna Osthoff and had two son and one daughter but she (Johanna) died after 4 years (12 October 1804) and his daughter (Louis) dies on the following year. Due to this Gauss was plugged into a depression from which he never fully recovered.
He also married another lady namely Minna Waldeck, with her he also had 3 children.

                  PERSONALITY

Gauss was an ardent perfectionist and hard worker.
He was never a prolific writer and also use to refuse to publish his work which he didn’t consider complete and above critism. He was slightly insecure and protective about his work.
His personal diary is the evidence that he had made many specific and important mathematical discoveries year and decades before publishing them.
It’s a chance that that if he had published all his discoveries in a timely manner, he would have advanced mathematics by 50 years Now.
Gauss was known to dislike teaching but still he did take in a few students and his several students became influential mathematician.
Gauss also recommended so many persons for  different types of awards as he praised others work too…  As he said that
“Mathematicians stand on each other’s shoulders”

CAREER AND ACHIVEMENTS

Carl Gauss made lot of discoveries being

generally regarded as one of the greatest

mathematicians of all time for his contributions to

Number theory, geometry, probability theory,

planetary astronomy, the theory of functions, and

potential theory.

For example: In Algebra, He proved the

fundamental theory of algebra which states that

“every non-constant single variable polynomial

with complex coefficient has at least one complex

root.”

He owns so many book like, Disquisitiones

Arithematicae, etc…

Quote by Gauss
Mathematics is the queen of the sciences.”

“Life stands before me like an eternal spring with new and brilliant clothes.”
Signature

At last he had done a significant work in different fields of mathematics as well as science. Due to his work, Now many important theories and discoveries can be done. The world will always remember him for his brilliant work…
